Unmanned Aerial Vehicle's vs Helicopter's.

What are industry people saying?

  • Can fly through narrow streets, alleyways and even through doors and gates.

  • Can fly under trees.

  • Can fly close to talent.

  • Can fly without excessive noise, dust and air turbulance.

  • Can provide the same shots a helicopter captures.

  • Cannot fly in the rain or in windy conditions.

HELICOPTERS        $18,500.00 per day

  • Cannot refuel on location, requiring them to travel to airports and helipads to refuel.

  • Cannot fly through narrow streets, alleyways and certainly not through doors and gates.

  • Cannot fly under trees.

  • Cannot fly close to talent.

In referring to the FAA's decision to allow the use of UAV's in motion picture and television filming - The Motion Picture Assn. of America said "such a move would allow for more nimble filmmaking and minimize the use of helicopters, which can be dangerous".

Just last year, three people were killed when a helicopter crashed in Acton during filming of a reality TV show for Discovery Channel.
